Just in the nick of time, two border patrolmen serving a twelve year sentence are finally set free.
Convicted of shooting a Mexican drug runner, which just happened to be their job, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean will see the light at the end of a tunnel they should have not been in, in the first place.
They were patrolling our borders, keeping us safe from people entering into this country illegally when drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete Davila decided to enter the country along the Texas border. He was shot in the butt, and for that these two heroes went to prison.
With pressures mounting from the wives of these men, public outcries, and a meeting between George Bush and radio talk show host Mike Gallagher who is heard on W.O.R.D. in Greenville SC, the President assured Mike he would be doing just that. The men have been in prison since 2005 which should have never had happened. Now the families will be together again in March of 09.
The drug smuggler was given immunity by US Attorney Johnny Sutton to testify against Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean. He is now in jail for another drug conviction accused of bringing more than 750 pounds of marijuana into the United States. Justice is finally served but will never make up for the time lost between these men and their loved ones. We have Bush to thank for doing the right thing.
